Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone!
I wanted to share some of my journal pages from the last few months.
There is a little bit of everything....

I've got to love a Saturday when there is nothing going on.
Today starts deer bow season here in Ohio,
so my husband is gone.
I don't have to make dinner
or get interrupted.
YaY!

And this is my workspace today.

 And No Fear...
I even worked on my customer quilt for awhile!
The background and part of the border is done!
Exciting!

Wool Quilt

Isn't this Awesome?
Disclaimer: I did Not piece or applique this quilt.
This was made by a gal in my Monday wool class at Sue Spargo's.
My job is to take the top piece of sewn and embellished fabric,
load it onto my longarm quilt machine,
and quilt it. Thats all I do to it.
It turned out so beautifully I asked her if I could share it.
Custom wool quilts are a labor of love.
They take a looooong time, in every aspect of the process.

The Guinea Hens are my favorite.

I actually quilted two custom wools this week.
The first one is on its way to California already...
and this animal quilt's owner is local.
The next two are Imperial Blooms and they will be on my machine together....
I know those two Michigan gals will be very happy!

Happy Quilting to my Wool Friends!

Never Too Busy

I am never too busy to have a journal page open on my table.
I listened to a podcast one evening this week.
It was offered by Create Mixed Media (.com)
and the guests were the two fellows who are the
Journal Fodder Junkies, Eric M. Scott and David R. Modler.
Theirs is one of the first websites I found
when I began researching Art Journaling online.
I loosely followed one of their prompts
and created my Worthy page.
The only thing my page has in common with their sample page
from the podcast, is they both started out with writing in the background
and they both had some type of transfer!
Mine really diverged.

It was a very interesting podcast.
I had listened to a Jill K. Berry podcast last week
offered by the same website.
I loved it!
The internet is a world unto itself.
It's amazing what you can find there!

The background on my Queen page had been started a long time ago.
At some point I was just drawing a blank,
so I put it away awhile.
Well it finally spoke to me and I am happy with how it turned out.

On my Queen of Quite Alot page I added this fun crown embellishment.
This week in Brave Girl Art School the class is titled 'Wear Your Word'.
One of the video sections is on polymer clay.
Melody shows you all kinds of jewelry you can make.
Its just not my style.....BUT....
I was totally inspired to make some journaling embellishments with clay.
It is not hard and took NO time at all!
I glued my crown down with E6000.
I think several glue dots might have worked too.

And here are a few glimpses of my Dailys.

I have been at my Dailys Every Day since Dec. 8, 2011.
It is one of the Best Top Ten things I have Ever done for myself!
I'll have to think about the other nine!
Hmmm.... maybe a journal page in my future!

Art Journaling

This is Why I LOVE art journaling
and why I feel it saved me from.... myself.
I can express myself.
I have an outlet to say what I want.
Yesterday I felt really Off.
I didn't want to do that today.
I declared it in my art journal and it was so!

And here are a few glimpses into my trusty daily journal.

Happy Birthday Shawn!

This is a page I did last spring.
Again, a Great way to get out those frustrations!
And I mentioned before about taking Brave Girl Art School.
It is wonderfully fun.
And the FaceBook page associated with the class
 is very inspiring!
There is a lot of diversity and talent there.
My first layer of collage paper.

The finished collage.
This is the Funky Flower Collage I did.

I actually hung this on my studio wall.
It really makes me Happy when I see it.
Love, Love, Love my Brave Girl Family.

Altered Brush Project

I was looking for a different artistic challenge
and I came across Donna Downey's Altered Brush Project.
I read Donna's blog often and am yearning to go to her studio for a class.
I ordered a paintbrush from her and it came right before my son's wedding.
It got put away for awhile.

My goal for this was to just have fun...
and to FINISH it!
I wanted it to reflect me...my art.
I have become more confident in myself...
am trying to be content with who I am...
my abilities...  my talents....
what I have to offer.
I am finding my voice... my style.
So that is what I did.
acrylic paint outlines...
Copic Markers...
Gesso on top...
Pitt Markers, other markers, Neocolor II crayons, Gel pens...
I kept adding layer after layer of colors,
 sometimes spray varnishing in between.
I was looking for depth in my background.
I wanted rich, intense looking color.
It was challenging.
You know I hate deadlines!

My brush could be described more as a
decorated' brush as opposed to an 'altered' brush.
But I was true to myself!
Thank you Donna, that was fun!
Go to her Pinterest page to see the whole collection.
They are all fun!
