StencilGirl Stencil Hop With Michelle Ward

Hello Stencil Lovers!
Today is special!!!!
StencilGirl Products is revealing
Michelle Ward's *four* new stencil designs!
Intersections is the stencil I was sent....

Here is what I did....
I traced the design onto a cotton fabric...
but simplified the lines a bit.
I wanted some larger areas for stitching.
I used these All Purpose Inks from Tsukineko
to give myself a color map.
And then I started stitching.
Mostly I used Bullion Stitches and French Knots.
I threw in some Rosette Chain Stitches and Stab Stitches too!

I like using varigated thread in my stitching.
It gives a lot of movement and flow.

To finish it I cut a heavy piece of chipboard the correct size...
and covered it with a small piece of batting.
I stretched the fabric around it and stitched it down.

I attached a 3M Velcro Hanging Strip on the back .
I love how it turned out!
Here it is hanging on my wall!
Thanks for coming to look at my project.

  26. Love the idea of using stitching to accomplish a beautiful wall hanging, using the stencils as the starting point. My stitches were never very even so I went to needlepoint. With this free-form of stitching it wouldn't have mattered. Would have given the project more individualization. Thanks for the motivation.
