StencilGirl Blog Hop Featuring Seth Apter

Hello Stencil Lovers.
Thanks for joining me on this Stencil Hop
featuring stencil designs by Seth Apter.

You have probably seen me use Seth's stencils
several times in my Daily.
For example:

For this hop, though, I thought I would do something different.

This is a word I have really had on my mind lately.....

Story Time Stencil L183 and Numbers Stencil L184.
Here are two of the three awesome stencils Seth designed.
There is so much you can do with his scrumptious textures.

I began this page with clear gesso randomly
painted through the stencil onto the plain paper.
It will act as a resist as color will soak
into the paper differently than it will over gesso.

I let it dry completely to obtain the best result.
I used a paper towel and rubbed
Yellow Daisy Glimmer Mist and some thinned brown acrylic paint
over the gessoed page to bring the texture out.

I used office supply stencil letters for my word CHOICE.
I used a finger dauber and brown StazOn Ink.
I also used the ink pad to smudge and darken
around the outside edge of the journal.
To me it kind of frames the page.

I love that the texture still shows through the brown letters.

But it was too stark a contrast for me.
I had envisioned more blending....something softer....
so I took out my trusty 2" brayer to play with.
I used thinned out white acrylic paint and
more Yellow Daisy Glimmer Mist.
I layed it down and picked it up....
I daubed more brown ink through pieces and parts of Seth's stencil....
Then dripped yellow and orange inks around the edges
and sprayed water to blend them in.

I played until I liked it.
That's the fun part of art!
Playing.....

I found the perfect sentiment in my stamp pile,
A Melody Ross design from Unity Stamp Co.

The last perfect touch.
Voila'
