Art Love....

In between quilting, and laundry, and daily living...
I have been working on backgrounds.
It is so much fun to get back into the crazy routine I have.
It did not take me long at all to make the art room a comfortable mess again.
I want everything within arms reach.
And I am thankful I have a sink close by.

I managed to keep my Daily going
all through the hustle and bustle of wedding preparations
and parties and house guests.

It kept me sane!

Be Brave.
Don't let life pass you by.

Same But Different

Carol's Quilt

 See What I Mean?
They are the same.... Yet Different.
Carol added a wider border
with an extra scallop.
And an extra corner motif.
Midge's Quilt
I use regular chalk to mark with.

Midge stayed closer to the designer's original plan...
but every stitcher used different combinations of stitches...
or different quantity of stitches.
If I had taken
a photo of the same block
times all 8 of the same quilts...
they would all look different.

It is interesting, as I do these Block of the Month
Imperial Bloom quilts,
To see how these individual women
make these quilts their own unique pieces of art.
Same but Different.

To answer a few questions....
I use a simple pants hanger from the local
discount store and the clamps that
came on the machine
to stretch the quilt backing
to avoid pleats and tucks on the back.
The yardstick lifts it to help me not bump into it.

Back to Normal

August 25, 2012
Russell and Emily

Beautiful weather for an outdoor wedding.
The Groom with his Dad and his Grandpa.
The Sweet Bride, Emily.
Awwwww
My oldest girl Laura is the far left and my girl Amy is the far right.
He is my baby.
It was just yesterday we sang songs together.
I balled when he walked me to my seat in the front row.

It was an exciting few weeks and I am treasuring the memories.
I Love My Family.
Life goes by so fast. If you blink you miss it.
So Be Brave and Live Each Moment.

I hope now I can get back to work!

Time Out

It's almost the Wedding Day. The Big Celebration!
Amidst the cleaning and preparations
I kept a journal open on my tabletop so I could stay sane.
My Daily wasn't enough!
And the only thing on my mind was the word Mental Health.
That explains it all.
Aren't they sweet together?
The bride and groom.

The kids had a lot of wedding projects on their plates.
They made their invitations,
their wedding programs,
the seating chart,
the table numbers,
the card box,
the guest book.....
and more.....
They seemed to have alot of fun doing it.
The bride and her mom are doing the flowers too.
And a candy bar,
and a memory photo table.
Whew.....

I made a couple of small canvases for them.
The Kindness canvas they fell in love with....

The Grow canvas was more personal.
It is hard to make something so personal.
But this is what I came up with.
The bride's mom suggested they could have a baby for every flower.
The kids balked at that.

Happy Wedding Day tomorrow kids.
May you have many loving years together.

What kind of advice would you give to newlyweds today?

This Week on My Table

It's Wedding Week at our house.
I have started cleaning my studio so we can entertain guests.
I'm not sure how many will be staying with us,
but there is no doubt
at least one air mattress will be set up on my studio floor.
It is very exciting!
My last child is marrying a very sweet girl.
I don't know how much time I will be able to put towards my art work....
For sure my quilting for customers has slowed down the last few weeks.
And my Art Journaling for arts sake has suffered.
But not my Daily.
I cannot stop my Daily Journal.
It has become a part of me.
If I couldn't do my Daily I might shrivel up and die.
No, not really...
But I feel it is That Important to my mental health.......

 So wish my household well.
Weddings are a big job.
And being the Mother of the Groom
is a lot easier than being the Mother of the Bride.
That's where I was last year!

Do What You Love,
And Love What You Do, Brave Ones.
