StencilGirl and ReSketch

Happy Earth Day!
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Rethink. Right?
Each team member was sent two ReSketch journals to play in.
Blank pages! What fun!

I started out playing with the little journal covers and went from there.

I decided to make a little traveler's type of notebook cover
to hold the two ReSketch journals.
The outside cover is Tangerine Kraft-Tex Paper leftover from a previous hop.
I sewed canvas paper to the inside cover.

I used my own Curlicue Wide Borders on the outside covers.
I stenciled it lightly with white gesso
and used Acrylic Paint Pens to color it.
I embellished the loopy loops into flowers
and made a nice graphic cover design.

To construct the dori....
I used notes from a class I had taken on making an Artsy Dori.
Not quite like the original but I love how it turned out!
I decided to start the new year with gratitude and positive affirmations.
So I filled the pages.... alphabetically? LOL

I love that little pink scribbly design (March 2015 Stencil Kit (4" x 4"stencil)).

There you go! That was fun!
I love my little dori!

Good Things Happen When StencilGirl Meets Lindy's Gang

Welcome to Day 2 of this fabulous blog hop!
I have a confession....
I had never used Lindy's Gang Products until this hop...
And now I am on my third order from the company!
The Starburst Shimmer Sprays are my favorite!

Where have they been all my life?
(....insert dramatic crescendo music....)
Seriously, where?

You know I love making art journals.
Sometimes I don't even know I've started another journal
until I am most of the way done with it.

Here I was just having fun spraying those Starburst Shimmer Sprays
and layering them to see how they mixed and blended.
And then it was...Yep, That's a book cover.

Here is how they started out.
My go-to Curlicue Floral as the base.

Then more layers and delicious shimmery drips.

Until we came to this!

Wow that was fun!

Then two more... but a little different approach.
I have some 12x12 deli paper that I layered and stenciled on.
I experimented with acrylic paints layered with the sprays.

I used the X-12 and the Gridded stencils in the layers here.

When I was happy with the paper I glued it onto
some cardboard for book covers and proceeded from there.

I love the crinkly deli paper look!

My Green inside book covers are scrapbook paper cut and glued to fit.
Then some Starburst Sprays on top through the Curlicue Floral stencil.
The blue versions are acrylic paints as the base and a Krylon spray paint through
the 9x12 stencil in the February 2018 StencilClub Kit.

There you go!
I admit I have a dozen projects going on using these
I highly recommend them!

StencilGirl Meets Emerald Creek

Hello Stencil Lovers!
It's Day 3 of our StencilGirl and Emerald Creek Blog Hop.
There has been some fabulous art presented.
I picked 4 different embossing powders for my project.

I cut some cardboard roughly to book cover size
and played with layering and textures for awhile.
It needed more color so I used copic markers
on top of some of the embossed areas which made for Great Pops of fun!

I love this one... using the Bullseye Stencil and
both the positive and negative impressions of the What's The Point Stencil.

One of the cardboard bases had a crackle paint texture from a previous playtime.
I thought how cool it would be with snowflakes for contrast.
Again, I tinted some of the white embossed snowflakes with copic markers.
I love the pastel snowflakes on that deep blue background.
The What's The Point Stencil is in there too.

I used the Planner Winter Symbols 6 stencil for the snowflakes
and a white Sakura Glaze pen for writing the words.
I poured the embossing powder over the inked words when they were wet,
then heated it...not sure if it would work. But YES it did!

Another one...

Using Curlicue Wide Borders this time and just playing.
By this time I saw the endless possibilities of colorizing the embossed design
so I only used the white embossing powder and then colored with alcohol markers
as well as the Tombows and Pitt markers I regularly use.

I used spray fix on the finished covers and then did a coat of
Liquitex Matte Varnish.

I bound these into little art journals with watercolor paper cut to size,
book tape and waxed linen thread.
Even the binding has the Repetition Stencil on it.

The inside covers of the books have their own unique flair.
I cut decorative scrapbook paper to size and did a quick stenciling over that.

There you go.
Lots of play and lots of fun!
What wonderful gifts these will make this holiday!

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
